About Quint*

Quint* is a specialized counseling center for queer people who have experienced violence in Rhineland-Palatinate that has been active since the beginning of 2023. It is thus one of the few organizations in Germany that was created specifically for the counseling of queer people affected by violence and their relatives.

The specialized counseling is based in Mainz, but is also responsible for inquiries from all other regions of Rhineland-Palatinate.

Quint* is run by the pro familia state association of Rhineland-Palatinate. The specialized counseling center is supported by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry for Family, Women, Culture and Integration (MFFKI).

Our understanding of violence

Queerphobia and violence express themselves in different forms and constellations. The most massive form of expression of queerphobic violence are hate-motivated crimes. They are not only directed against the individual self-determination of the affected individual, but are also to be understood as an attack on an equal and democratic society.

In addition to the physical attack (bodily harm), our understanding of violence also includes psychological, emotional, verbal assaults as well as discrimination and damage to property.

Furthermore, your personal assessment of which experiences and situations you perceive or have perceived as violent is decisive.
